Girls Wrestling Wraps Up Stellar Season, Dearwester Crowned State Champ

This weekend, the Harrison Girls' Wrestling team wrapped up their season at the 2nd Ohio Girls Wrestling State Championships.

It was an incredible season for these young ladies with many many “firsts”.

First girls wrestling team in school history.

First dual meet win in program history.

First District Championship in program and Southwest Ohio history.

8 State Qualifiers.

Finishing 5th out of 104 schools in the state that field girl wrestlers.

And lastly, the very first Girls Wrestling State Placers:

Freshman Jessica Edwards had a spectacular season finishing in 6th place. She was the only freshman heavyweight to make it to the podium.

Freshman Chloe Dearwester completed a near-perfect season, dominating the bracket on Saturday. She had 4 pins in 4 matches, with the last one occurring in her State Title match over the returning state champ in the first period. Chloe is the very first Girls Wrestling State Champ in Harrison High School and Cincinnati History.

Congrats, girls, on an awesome beginning... to be continued!
